Week 4! :)

Hello Everyone!!!!!!

 

This week has been amazing!!!! We taught a lot of lessons and contacted a lot of people! We have been getting a lot of return appointments from contacting (tracting) and we have met some very very sweet families. This week I was reminded about the power Satan tries to have over us when a member of our ward shared a story with us. He and his wife were suppose to get sealed in the temple on this particular day and That week thier whole family got sick with the flu. They called the bishop and told him that they were probably going to need to reschedule their sealing. (they were both converts). But the bishop called them back and told them about how Satan is going to try to do anything to stop their eternal progression here on earth. The bishop advised them to keep their temple date and just go anyways. When they got their recommends scanned and walked into the temple the flu symptoms left and they were feeling 100% better! They were able to get sealed and they werent sick at all. After the sealing after they walked out of the temple they were both so ill again that they couldnt get pictures. but they were so amazing at the Lord's hand in their life, and that their sickness was taken away from them for a short amount of time so they could be sealed. I know that as we all strive to do the Lord's will, He will bless us and carry us through these hard times. We cannot let the adversary stop us from progressing eternally. It just amazes me how hard Satan pushes us to rebel, and how Gentle God commands us to do good.

 

During exchanges on Tuesday, I was with sister Warnock (from Washington) and we were tracting this street and after about the 3rd house she said that she didnt have a good feeling about this neighborhood and that we should leave. I agreed and we quickly left. Then, on Friday, my comp and I had a rather scary experience as we were trying to contact a referral. As we walked into this particular home, it was as if we walked into Darkness.  The spirit could not be felt in this home and it was so strange. The house was old, vacant looking on the outside, and hoarder looking on the inside. This creepy lady let us in and then she asked us to follow her through the house to go get her son. I phyiscally could not move. I tried to take a step, and I couldnt. I looked at my comp and said "let's just stay here." The lady went through a door and called out for her son (30's ish) and as he walked into the room this super dark feeling overcame me and my companion and we were so lost/confused. We tried to be friendly to this man and he wasnt accepting of it. We took that as a clue to get out asap. We quickly ended the conversation and tried to head for the door. Well, the old creepy lady locked the door after we walked in and we tried to unlock it and after a few seconds we shuffled out. My comp and I talked about it and she said "DID YOU FEEL THAT!?" I said YES!!! It was just so scary and you could tell that satan was within the walls of that home.

 

I was reflecting back on how I felt on tuesday when we didnt have a good feeling about a different particular street. I learned about the importance of following the promptings of the spirit, even when we don't understand why! There probably wasnt anything wrong with the first street that we went to on Tuesday, but Heavenly Father taught us what "that feeling" feels like when we need to leave a certain area. As we were in the scary home with the creepy lady I felt the same prompting from earlier last week and was able to recognize it. I am grateful that we are able to use the spirit not only to guide what we say, but also to guide us where we go or where we shouldnt go! I am so glad to be a member of this church and to be able to have the Holy Ghost as a constant companion each day. I love being a missionary and planting seeds in the hearts of these people in Vacaville.  :)
